Event Details

The theatre project Prymityvy is based on the materials about the life of Alena Kish, a Belarusian painter from the outskirts of Slutsk, who earned her living creating colourful carpets for local villagers. The image of a person and her time is born from the diary entries of her fellow villager, newspaper articles of that time as well as thoughts of our contemporaries — artists, historians, culturologists — about the personality and work of the artist.

Alena Kish was a self-taught artist, with no home and family, with an individual and unique  view of the world: her tragic fate gives us an occasion not only to recall the life and work of a legendary Belarusian, but also to reflect the problems of modern society.
